My Everyday Makeup Routine

I want to start writing more about probably my biggest passion- cosmetics and beauty! I have always been obsessed with makeup and finding the best products out there. Something really important to me is not only products that look good and work well, but ones that are of really nice quality and do good things for your skin. It is super important to check the ingredients in all of your makeup and cosmetic products. A lot of the ingredients added into these products (sometimes even high end products) can be harmful for your skin in the long run. Some general ingredients to avoid are talc and any parabens. Putting these ingredients on your skin on a daily basis can cause unwanted side effects such as premature aging and drying of the skin. I suggest researching brands and their commitment to their products and formulas. One of my favorite cosmetic lines, IT Cosmetics, not only uses the highest quality ingredients in their products, but they are also a cruelty free brand, something also very important to me. Some other brands I love are MakeupForever Urban Decay. I am hoping to do a post every week about my favorite beauty and cosmetic products, but today I am writing about products I use every single day when doing my makeup. Currently, these are my favorite go-to products:

Before I start my makeup, I obviously start with a moisturizer. This is an extremely important step to both moisturize your skin as well as protect yourself from the sun. It is essential to use an everyday moisturizer with SPF to prevent premature aging, darkspots, and wrinkles. Right now, I use the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer Sunscreen SPF 30. I love Kiehl’s products and will be writing a separate post on my skincare routine.

Unless I am going out or have a super long day ahead of me, I usually don’t use a primer for everyday wear.

After my moisturizer absorbs, I use my Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer. This is a relatively new product I have been using, but it is honestly my favorite foundation I have ever used. It is a medium/full coverage that does not cake, which is hard to find. I buy both the full and travel size of the product. I use the larger bottle for my full face and love the travel size bottle to use as a concealer for under eyes and blemishes. I totally recommend trying out this concealer/foundation!

After I let my foundation soak into my skin and set properly, I apply concealer under my eyes. I usually have dark circles under my eyes when I wake up in the morning, so I like a full coverage concealer that is not too thick. My favorite concealer that I have been using for a few years is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. A little goes a long way with this product so I apply a small drop to a beauty blender and cover any extra dark spots or blemishes. Though it is a bit on the pricier side, one tube literally lasts me a year!

After I am my foundation and concealer is applied, I set everything with a translucent powder. This step is super important for me so that my face does not look oily and my foundation stays in place for the whole day. The powder I am using right now that I love is the Makeup Forever HD Powder. I apply it with a large fluffy IT Cosmetics Face Brush and cover everywhere I applied foundation.

I do my makeup in a weird order, so next I do my eye makeup. I always use eyelid primer when I am going out, but usually skip that step for my everyday routine. I like very natural tones so the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette is perfect for my everyday eye look.

I always line my upper lash line, and depending on the day I use either a gel liner, or a wet eyeliner brush with eyeshadow. I use the darkest brown shade from the Too Faced Palette or the IT Cosmetics Liner Love Waterproof Anti-Aging Crème Gel Eyeliner in the color Espresso. I hate black eyeliner for everyday wear, so its the perfect dark brown that matches my hair/lash color. They offer a variety of shades so I would suggest picking whatever looks most natural on your eyes! A thin gel line can just make the lashes appear thicker, instead of a super thick line that can be too harsh.

Next comes my absolute favorite makeup product, mascara! About two months ago I tried to new IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara and it is 100% the best mascara I have ever tried. I used to swear by the Benefit They’re Real mascara but this does what that does and more! It is both super lengthening and super thickening. I use this everyday even if I am just running out of the house to run errands. It is amazing and must-have!

After my eyes are finished, I do a light contouring of my cheeks and then some blush. Some people skip these steps but they are definitely two of my favorite steps of my makeup routine. The important part is having the right products and my two favorites are Hoola by Benefit for contouring and Rockateur by Benefit for blush. They look super natural and are the absolute perfect shades for everyday wear. I have never used anything besides Hoola to contour and I do not think I will ever stop using this product- it is amazing!

I have pretty thick eyebrows to begin with, so I just touch them up a bit with the IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil. It is the only brow product I will use and it is by far the best I have ever tried. It is the perfect consistency and color and looks so natural.

My favorite part of my makeup routine is lips! Lately, I have been wearing Kylie Cosmetics products on a daily basis. I usually wear either the Koko K or Candy K Lip Kit daily, but lately I have been loving the glosses! Today I am wearing the Candy K gloss and it is the perfect touch of color to a natural look!

My final step is to set everything with a makeup setting spray. This helps everything I applied to stay on as long as possible and also is super refreshing! Though I want to try some other setting sprays, right now I use the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. It works really well and does not contain the harmful ingredients a lot of other setting sprays do.

And that’s it for my everyday makeup routine! I am so excited to start posting more about my beauty and skincare routines soon!
