Lip Monthly- July 2015

Hey Guys!

Today’s post is dedicated to a subscription service called Lip Monthly. A few days ago, I received my very first package, which was their July 2015 bag. Each month, Lip Monthly delivers their products to your home for a reoccurring fee of $12.95. Being a makeup and beauty guru, I was ecstatic to learn about this service! In particular, I love lip products, and find myself purchasing several each and every month. Lip Monthly is a huge convenience, being that the products are delivered directly to my front door every month, and at an awesome price! Below I am sharing with you my first unboxing experience with Lip Monthly, I hope you enjoy!

The Package

Earlier this week I was expecting my Lip Monthly bag to arrive, so I checked my mail box first thing Tuesday Morning. To my surprise, there was a bright gold envelope in my mailbox- impossible to miss! I understand the importance of packaging when it comes to subscription services, and I can definitely say Lip Monthly does a great job of creating a unique and distinct image.

Once you open the envelope, there is a smaller cosmetic bag inside. Each month has a different bag design, with this month’s being pink zebra print- so cute! The best thing about these bags is that they are totally reusable, and I already know I will be using this to hold my lipsticks for travel!

The Products

Inside the cosmetic bag, there is a card. This card, which also has a unique new design every month, provides you with information on each product inside the bag, as well as the overall value. Each month there are always three lip products, as well as one bonus beauty product. The overall value of this month’s bag was $55.49! And remember, the subscription itself only costed $12.95! Lip Monthly definitely gives you far beyond your money’s worth!

The first product in my bag was the Lord and Berry Crayon in shade “fire”- full size. This retails for $19.

This crayon is definitely my favorite product that came this month. A fan of red lipstick, I was so excited! I am actually wearing it for the first time today. It has a slightly orange tint to it, something I have never tried before, yet am really loving! The product goes on nice and smooth and is nicely pigmented, which is something I look for in a red lipstick. The only thing I have noticed as I have worn it throughout the day is it is slightly drying, so pairing it with a clear gloss or using some sort of lip moisturizer underneath would probably be best. This will definitely be a go-to of mine!
The second product in my bag was the Medusa’s Makeup Gloss in shade “temptation”-fill size. This retails for $9.

This product swatched very differently then what I had expected by its packaging. It comes out much more opaque then I expected, but in a good way. The deep brownish-red color seemed a bit harsh at first, but once I watched it and saw how it applied, it was much more appealing. I would wear this gloss either alone or over a reddish tone lipstick to add some shimmer and shine! My favorite part about this product is that it is cruelty-free- something you don’t come across often with beauty products. It is great that lip monthly is including cruelty-free products in their bags, and I will definitely be sure to try out some other Medusa’s make up products because of it!

The third and final lip product in my bag was the Milani lipstick in shade “violet addict”- full size. This retails for $6.49.

My immediate thought upon removing this product from the bag was the shocking color. I am not typically one to stray away from classic pinks and reds, so I was a little intimidated. However, I realized this is probably one of my favorite things from my experience with Lip Monthly. I would not normally select this product out myself in the store, so having it now sort of forces me to try new things and different shades. Bold lip colors are definitely not for everyone- so I recommend taking skin tone and hair color into consideration when doing your lips. However, to my surprise, when I tried this product out yesterday, I actually kind of liked it! It will definitely take some getting used to and playing around, but I am excited to be able to try it out. In regards to consistency, I actually loved the way this product swatched. It is not too sticky, does not go on too thick, and has nice pigmentation. I will definitely consider trying out this product in different hues as well.

The fourth product in my bag- the non lip product- was the MMU Harvey Prince Mini Roller in scent “Sincerely”- full size. This retails for $21.

I was excited to find this product in my bag, being as I have heard great things about Harvey Prince products, yet have never tried them out for myself. This particular scent I loved! To me, it smells of honey, and is a great clean, simple fragrance for the summer. I am picky when it comes to perfume, but I absolutely love this. I would especially recommend for younger girls, as the scent is not too strong, mature, or overpowering. The mini roller is a great size for travel. I will personally be keeping it in my purse so that I can use it at any time!

My overall impression

I am new to subscription services, and Lip Monthly has definitely made me extremely excited! Seeing their bright, shiny gold envelope in my mailbox literally made my day, and the products inside made it even better! I would recommend Lip Monthly to anyone for several reasons. First, I very much enjoyed the excitement and anticipation of this monthly subscription service. I could not wait to open it up and be surprised at everything that was inside. It is definitely something I can look forward to each month! Second, as noted before, it gives me a chance to try out products I would not normally choose myself in-store. It forces me to try new things, which in some cases I end up loving! Additionally, it allows me to try some new brands I may not have access to or know about otherwise. Lastly, the price and convenience. I am a huge makeup guru, and spend lots of time and money on lip products every month. Getting this service delivered monthly right to my door, saves me the need to go shopping at the store. Also, again, Lip Monthly is only $12.95 a month, while the products inside retail for much more than that! There is no question that Lip Monthly is an awesome and exciting deal. I would recommend this service to anyone who loves makeup and is looking to try out new brands and products!
