Yves Saint Laurent + Halston: Fashioning the 70s: A Special Exhibitions Gallery at the Fashion Institute of Technology

The Fashion Institute of Technology

227 West 27th Street, New York, NY 10001

Having attended FIT during the summer of 2012, I am very familiar with their short-term fashion exhibits, and have visited many. They are fortunate enough to gain access to highly coveted pieces of designers from the past and present. Between February 6th and April 15th, The Fashion Institute of Technology hosted a special exhibit of Yves Saint Laurent and Halston’s designs from the 1970s. Being two of the most influential designers of this decade, their breathtaking pieces accurately reflect the times in which they were made. While Saint Laurent included lots of vivid color and dramatic accents in his collections, Halston took a more classic, feminine approach.  The Fashion Institute of Technology did an amazing job of showcasing these garments that were made at the height of these designers careers.
